Hudson Hyundai NJ- Rip Off
Hudson Auto Group
RIP OFF- Stay far far away- Jersey City NJ- 201-333-3100
I really would like others not to have to go through the same horror show that I did, so I am writing this blog entry.
Have you heard that saying: “If it seems to good to be true, it probably is.” Well, listen to your gut.
Here is the story or my Hudson Hyundai Experience- Communipaw Ave, Jersey City NJ:
Total Scam: My parents are seniors and it was time to get them a newer car. We decided on a Hyundai Accent GLS. Instead of a new car, we figured we would save a few bucks and look for a car a year or two old with low mileage.
Searching on the Internet, I came across an advertisement for a 2012 Silver Hyundai Accent GLS for $12,999. My first red flag was that the car was priced much lower than anywhere else online. Comparable cars were being listed for $15 or $16 thousand and change.
Since Hudson Auto Group/ Hudson Hyundai is not around the corner for me, I originally decided to stay away.. Something had to be wrong. A search online found some very nasty reviews from other dissatisfied consumers along with some positive ones.
Well a few weeks later the car was still listed, and I said.. Hmm, well maybe this is just a great deal. With hesitation I went out on a Friday afternoon, June 24, 2013 to visit the dealer. Almost three hours later (sitting in hours of traffic) I arrived.
I met with Mohammed Ansari, the car salesman after confirming with the Internet consultant Steve Jones on the phone that the car was still available. I test drove the car and said to myself.. So far so good. This could work.. I was waiting for them to tell me that there was a mistake with the price or something (thats what other reviewers said they did). To my surprise, they said the car was $12,999, the exact price listed on the Internet.
He then asked about any cars that we were trading in and I said that my mom has a 1999 Nissan Sentra. It has 47,000 original miles and the car rides great, but the body is shot and has a lot of issues. I showed Mohammed several photos of the car on my phone and pointed out the places where it had body issues. He replied that they werent going to sell my moms car anyway, and would just end up junking it. He asked how much I wanted for the trade in and I said $2,500.
I told Mohammmed Ansari of Hudson Hyundai, Hudson Auto Group that this car was not for me, and that I would need to bring my mom back. (Note: My mom had already test drove the same exact car, 2012 Hyundai Accent GLS) closer to home, but at a much higher price point, so I knew she already knew the car.
Next I got the sales pitch: “What do we have to do to get you to say yes today.” My answer.. This car is not for me as I said, but if you give me a good deal on the trade in, I will make some calls. He then came back with his manager and said, well we really arent going to do anything with the trade in, we can give you $500. I replied that was not enough and that my dad wanted at least $1,500 or $1,000.
Next I got… “So if we give you a thousand dollars for the trade in, will you sign today”, to which I said.. let me make a few calls.. Called family members and told them we had a deal.
IMPORTANT NOTE- When I visited Hudson Hyundai/ Hudson Auto Group, I was not driving the trade in vehicle. They offered the thousand dollars without seeing the car and based on the photos.
SO WHAT HAPPENED:
I went back to the car dealership with mom and dad on Monday afternoon June 24th, 2013. As we were driving I said to my mom “So far this has gone very smooth.. I guess was was wrong to be skeptical. There was a lot of nasty things written about them. If they do try to pull anything, I just want your ok that we are going to walk away.”
Upon arrival, all was fine.. We provided copies that they needed, gave them the check and everything was smooth sailing.. THEN IT HAPPENED.
Mohammed Ansari had taken the check to the back and when he returned said “We can not give you $1,000 for your car.. You misrepresented the condition of the vehicle.” ” BULL SHIT”, I said.. You saw the pictures.. I showed you on the phone the damage to the body of the vehicle. You guys agreed to give us $1,000 regardless.”
His reply— “You are not taking responsibility here. The car is a piece of junk.. Who here would give you $1,000.” I said “YOU DID, and it says $1,000 trade in” on the receipt. We went back and forth and I started yelling and was eventually escorted out.
What a bunch of crooks!!!
Basically these scam artists wanted to make a sale at the end of the month and told me what I wanted to hear, and even documented it. We had already gotten insurance on this vehicle and drove a long way to get there.. So they probably figured we would just pay the extra money they wanted.. Well they were WRONG. I don’t take to scam artists very well and Hudson Auto Group, Hudson Hyundai are just that, a bunch of rip off scam artists.
Now here is where I did screw up. On the pink receipt when I went and left a deposit on the vehicle, they wrote $1,000 trade in. They also wrote, subject to vehicle inspection. I questioned them on that and said, what does this mean.. They said, if the car is worth more, than we will give you more. I said, are you telling me that we could get less. The reply.. “ABSOLUTELY NOT.. YOU WILL GET AT LEAST $1,000.
Lesson learned.. If it seems to good to be true it is.. Get everything documented in writing, down to the littlest detail, even if you think it is silly. Also, pay attention to negative reviews. I should have listened to my gut.. I mean Hudson Auto Group, Hudson Hyundai has a rated F from the Better Business Bureau for a reason!! I wanted a deal, and I got what I deserved..

it’s the worst dealers ever. don’t trust anything they say! I got an offer from them to a new car over phone and also WRITTEN in email – and when arriving to the store – they told me that after talking with the manager they can’t sell it for this price so it’s an extra 1500$… never saw so much layers in one place…

Horrible Experience!!

I wont recommend this place to my worst enemy. I inquired about a vehicle on their website, got an email the same day saying the vehicle was still available. Went in the next day they claimed it may have sold they couldn’t find it. Make a long story short, I purchased a vehicle and returned it a couple of days later for a knocking motor and they weren’t happy to the point where they were not willing to make a deal with any other car! It’s been 8 days and I still haven’t received my down payment refund. You can make several calls & NO ONE CALLS BACK , TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!!!!!

Terrible!
by Mike T from New York, New York | December 29, 2012
This is my first time in whole my life that I’m writing a bad review for any business; They are terrible! Never trust anything they say on the phone, they change it in the office! We talked on the phone, the person talked to GM and offered a price that will be negotiable as well! Over there they said different price! Even for the APR, they pretend that they don’t know that right now that I’m writing this review, it’s 0.9 % for certified Hyuindai pre-own car! Then I showed them on the website (www.hyundaicertified.com) then he said OK! I was seating almost 45 minutes on the chair to show me the car, then they said that they can’t find the keys, without saying a single word SORRY! Never waste your time because I’m sure when you get there you will not waste your money!

Terrible, don’t waste your time
by Esquire from NY | August 7, 2012
They list cars they do not have. I called to talk about two cars before I visited and they told me how great they were, I could test drive, etc. When I arrived the next am, after much waiting, they told me they “couldn’t find” the cars, and that oops, one of them might be in the shop. Don’t waste your time. They are misleading.

Very Bad Experience
by T_P_Q from New Jersey | August 3, 2012
Scheduled a test-drive for a used car with them; when I got there they wouldn’t show me the car I’d called for, and tried to sell me a different, more expensive one. Customer rep left me waiting for 10-15 minutes at a time while he repeatedly “looked for” the car I’d scheduled or “talked to the bosses”. It took almost 40 minutes for them to finally admit they didn’t have the car that they’d posted on the site (made up some story about not finding the keys or something equally ridiculous), and another half hour of trying to get me to buy the more expensive one… All in all, very dissatisfied with this dealership, won’t be recommending it to anyone soon.

Out of State buyers BEWARE of their wickedness. I saw the listing and traveled 1,000 miles to buy this vehicle. I asked them to send some photos as they were not uploaded. When I reached their place I was shocked to see dents/scratches and the interior was not clean. They sent photos from the better side and they didnt even mention about scratches/dents. Keme the sales guy said it is regular wear & tear. BEWARE dont waste time visiting this guys. Total RIP OFF

In my 57 years I have never experienced…
In my 57 years I have never experienced such a difficult transaction filled with lies and deceit. I worked with Mohammed Ansari and Lou Pierro and I’ve never met two people that fit the stereotype description of a car salesman. It took two months to receive my plates with constant phone calls and visits to Hudson Hyundai. They acted in a very disgraceful manner with no business sense and customer service. I did meet with Christina Difeo who was as helpful as she can be and the only person who apologized. She is a rose among many thorns. It wasn’t only the problem with the plates but the deceitful way the forms where presented to me for signature…I didn’t find out the price of the car until the last form…even though I had been asking. Never will I deal with this dealer again. I don’t recommend them at all! They also added about $5,000 of insurance on a $10,000 car which I have since canceled. I must have temporailly gone insane when I signed these forms and didn’t heed to my intuition to run.

I had a bad experience with the salesman…
I had a bad experience with the salesman, Juaquim H. Showe. Too bad for Hudson Huundai, because they lost the sale and I went somewhere else. I was in the market for a late model slightly used Elantra. Mr. Showe showed me around his lot and I offered a price for a 2009 Elantra. We were about two thousand apart on price. The deal did not occur. Then, four days later, Mr. Showe called me and stated he got authorization and would sell me the vehicle for the price I offered. When I went to the dealership, Mr. Showe then advised me that he didn’t have authorization, told me the car was already sold and attempted to switch and tried to sell me a 2008 elantra with more miles on it for the same price he quoated me for the 2009 vehicle. I would avoid this salesman as he clearly shown he didn’t have any ethics.
